About Host On-Demand
IS&C has deployed IBM's Host On-Demand (HOD) to provide secure TN3270 access to our z/OS mainframe system. HOD encrypts the usernames, passwords and text of TN3270 host sessions. The SSL security protocol used by HOD provides a measure of security lacking in earlier TN3270 connections, in which communications were passed in clear text.
In a Com-Plete session, sensitive information regarding student records, for example, may be passed back and forth between the host (i.e. mainframe) and your workstation. When using HOD to access the mainframe, this information will be protected from potential "eavesdroppers." A secure Payroll Personnel System (PPS) session is also available using HOD.
The production version of Host On-Demand that we are currently running is HOD v9.
