Synchronizing with the SyncML Protocol

Synchronization Methods

There are two options for synchronizing a handheld device with CorporateTime:

  1. CorporateSync: done through a cradle or USB cable connecting the handheld  device to your workstation
  2. SyncML: done wirelessly from your handheld device directly to the CorporateTime server system

We recommend consistently using one of these methods and not switching between using  CorporateSync and SyncML. If you must switch between methods, be sure to execute a "Full Sync" (CorporateSync) or a "Slow Sync" (SyncML) as your first synchronization with the new method.

If you have changed any calendar data on your handheld or on the CorporateTime server, do a sync using the same method as your last sync before changing methods.

Tips

  1. A repeating meeting created in CorporateTime is reflected as separate instances of that meeting on the handheld device after synchronizing using the SyncML Protocol. A repeating meeting created on the handheld device is reflected as a repeating meeting on CorporateTime after synchronizing using the SyncML Protocol.
  2. If you change the Synthesis client data range, the next sync will be a "Slow" or “Full” (complete) synchronization.
  3. If you mistakenly delete an item on the Palm's calendar and wish to restore it, perform a Slow or Full synchronization.
  4. Do not interrupt a SyncML synchronization; doing so may cause error messages on the device requiring a soft system reset.
