CorporateTime
IS&C Service Description
December, 2001

Information Systems and Computing is pleased to offer CorporateTime, a product which provides electronic scheduling and calendaring, to the UCSB campus community.

A Campus Standard for EScheduling and Calendaring
In the summer of 1998 CorporateTime was recommended by the Campus Network Committee's Electronic Scheduling Advisory Group (ESAG) as a campus-wide solution for electronic scheduling and calendaring.  The ESAG spent over 16 months researching and analyzing the requirements and features necessary for such a system.  After an extensive evaluation the ESAG recommended CorporateTime as the campus standard.  This recommendation was accepted and approved by the Campus Network Committee in July of 1998.  The ESAG's work is available at:

Access
IS&C's CorporateTime service is available through the UCSB campus network and the Internet using the TCP/IP protocol. Those wishing to access CorporateTime schedules from home, or while traveling, can do so using the CorporateTime client or a Web browser.  To do this they must first dial into the UCSB modem pool (893-3000) or an Internet Service Provider (ISP).  The remote workstation must have the TCP/IP and PPP protocols installed and be properly configured. We will provide installation information for those wishing to install CorporateTime at home.  Please contact your CorporateTime support staff for assistance.

The CorporateTime server is NOT available from midnight to 4:00 AM on the 1st of each month. It may be unavailable for short routine maintenance daily between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. If maintenance is required outside of these hours, the outage will be announced.

On-Line Support
On-line tips and suggestions for using CorporateTime will be posted to the IS&C Web Pages:

http://www.isc.ucsb.edu/osg/corptime/corptime.html

Retention of Calendar Information
Calendar information will be retained on-line for the two previous calendar years.  For example, on January 1, 2002 we will discard all calendar information for calendar year 1999 and earlier.

Users of CorporateTime can download calendar information.  They are able to archive their own calendar or any calendar to which they have permission and store this information on their own workstation.  This can serve as an archive beyond the time limit described above.

The data on the CorporateTime server is backed up nightly. We keep copies of the CorporateTime Calendar as it existed around midnight on each of the previous 15 days. Also, a copy of the calendar as it existed on the first of each month is kept for one year. This allows us to restore a person's calendar as it existed on any day within the last two weeks, or as it existed on the first of each month. We can restore the entire calendar for that person, or the calendar within a range of days. We cannot restore one particular meeting or task.

Charges
There will be no charge for CorporateTime services.
